UPDATE: Confidence in Fujitsu LOST Again...

UPDATE:

I went to Fujitsu's website, and they have **NOT** removed the link to the faulty BIOS update to version 1.0.9.  You can see this for yourself by going to:

and selecting:

• [1] Notebook PC (under Select Product)
• [2] T Series (under Select Series)
• [3] T4310 (under Select Model)

then you will see the first update under the section "BIOS and Generic Compatible Drivers" named "Windows-based BIOS Update" to Version 1.09 of Size 2.29 MB.

Clicking on the readme I do not see anything telling me/you not to install this BIOS upgrade as it will hose your laptop.

Anyway, I recommend not buying Fujitsu ever again.  I recently bought a Macbook Air and a Lenovo Thinkpad.

Fujitsu sucks, and this is the proof.

I will be forwarding this blog to Fujitsu support and see what they have to say about it.

Confidence in Fujitsu has been Restored

Fujitsu told me that they would service my laptop at no charge to myself.

I would like to publicly thank Fujitsu, and hope that their team removes the BIOS update download link as soon as they can.

So, it is February 1st, 2011, and I visit Fujitsu's website, and they still have the BIOS driver updates for my specific model T4310. See here:

Select: "Notebook PC" -> "T Series" -> "T4310"

The BIOS upgrade is still there and it still says in the readme file that it will solve your hibernation issues.

Also, I got an email from Fujitsu with an "estimate" to repair the damages, I wrote back telling them that their software update damaged my computer and I am not paying to repair anything.

They promptly responded and said they will see what they can do. Let's see if anything happens, and in the meantime, remember, don't buy a Fujitsu computer, buy a DELL, because DELL has a reputation for support.

More Research

So, I go back to the Fujitsu Website, and I look at the readme file for the BIOS update which I ran on my T4310 Fujitsu Tablet. It says Verbatim in their README file that it fixes the conditiion where the system was not shutting down correctly from Standby or Hibernation, and it specifically references my Laptop model number of T4310.

I used to like your products, but after I convinced my brother to buy one of your laptops and he kept getting weird shutdown errors, he decided to go with HP, and I don't think my father wants to buy another Fujitsu either, especially after hearing my nightmare story, not to mention the thousands of other people all over the internet that have the same problem.

Do Not Buy Fujitsu Laptops or Tablets!

On Friday, January 14th, 2011, I called Fujitsu Technical Support in the United State of America. Here is my story:

I bought a Fujitsu T4310 laptop from Fujitsu, and the standby and hibernation features never worked, so I went to Fujitsu's website and downloaded a BIOS upgrade.

The upgrade only made things worse, in fact now my laptop won't even shutdown at all! Whenever I run my operating system, whether it is windows or linux and I shutdown, the computer turns off and then immediately turns back on after 3 seconds, I am then able to shut down my computer by entering "Diagnostic Mode" and pressing "N".

So I call Fujitsu, and they tell me that warranty does not cover this because "Nobody at Fujitsu told me to upgrade my BIOS". I then tell them, can't you just send me the BIOS downgrade file? And they told me that my motherboard is now corrupted and it will cost 500$ to replace it.

I told them NO WAY!

So if you are thinking of buying Fujitsu, remember my horror story, and now it may take Ubuntu 3 seconds to shutdown, I still have to wait an extra 10 seconds because Fujitsu sucks.

Not happy with them at all, I told them it is false advertising for them to sell me a laptop with a "Standby" and "Hibernate" feature aka ACPI functions and that I will report them as false advertising.
